We purchased a Forest River/Dutchmen Kodiak Toy Hauler. We noticed the shower floor was soft/flexable.

We contacted the manufacture of the shower, sent them photos of the LACK of support of the shower. The manufacture rep went to Dutchmen as the installation does not meet the showers manufacture's specs for installing. Dutchmen is refusing to repair the shower to meet the required, correct way of installing the shower.

Their answer, find someone who can install the added support needed to hold the shower floor. What POOR customer service, would NEVER buy another Forest River/Dutchmen product again and will spread the word.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Location: Morgantown, Kentucky

I purchased a used 2012 Denali 289RKS in 2013. I noticed the shower basin flexed at the first use.

I opened the access panel below, inserted on edge the longest 2x4 that I could position inside, closed the panel up, and the basin floor is as solid as it gets. I weigh 245 pounds. It is now 2018, and no problems.

I also added more sealant where the glass meets the molded base at the exterior wall.

Depending on how the trailer was leveled, some bit of water leaked to the bathroom floor. And, I forced adhesive and sealant into the back of the top of the enclosure panels to ensure that spray from the wand would not flow back down behind the enclosure and the walls. I've not had any leaks since.

Furthermore, we have had no ceiling leaks, and no kitchen sink links. (The only place we had a leak was at the lounge slide, forward, when the slide-out was open.

This too depended on how the water ran from level. We fixed that by redoing the seals on the slide, and adding a slide-topper awning.)

We have the same problem and it is leaking all over the floor when we take a shower. The repair estimate is between $2000.00 and $2500.00.

We have the same problem in our new Denali. I looked under the shower base and it looks like they cut the hole in the floor for the plumbing with an axe.

We then had electrical problems I looked in the panel to the right of the fuse box and same thing, the cut out in the wall for the main wire harness looked like they used a chain saw. A real bunch of hic's.

This review is full of misinformation. Dutchmen and Forest River are in no way partnering companies.

They never have been, and never will be most likely. Kodiak doesn't even produce toy haulers anymore and haven't for the past few years now. That tells me that this was a used product that you purchased, and not only that, but since it is now 2015, its also out of warranty.

I have never had a "shower support" issue in any of my Dutchmen products. If you don't mind us knowing, I would like to know what your weight is to see if that gives any explanation.

We have a 2013 Kodiak 221RBSL and yes the shower is soft and spongy near the door. I took out the access door under the shower door and made some supports out of pressure treated lumber, it took me about 2 hours counting getting the table saw out of the basement, getting tools out, etc.

I think it is not bad now, BTW we are 155 and 125 lbs....if that matters.

It is really amateurish of Dutchman to leave this unsupported, I would be ashamed to build this rv with respect to the shower.

Also the "Bear Cave" storage, both doors leaked just after getting the unit home, dealer paid to fix, than the skylight in the front leaked, dealer paid to fix, than the bathroom skylight leaked but by that time the dealer who was 600 miles away had sent me in error a skylight for the bathroom so I paid $200 to have it installed. Other than that we like the unit BUT too bad they don't have some quality control.
